Location

Where Inglewood is

Inglewood is in Ward Anirniq, in north-central Edmonton. The majority of the neighbourhood was annexed into the City of Edmonton in 1904, with the western portion (west of 127 Street) following in 1908, making it one of the city's older annexed areas. Before European settlement, the area along St. Albert Trail served as a camping and trading site for Métis and First Nations peoples. The Inglewood Community League was established in 1950.

The neighbourhood's most notable recent story is the former Charles Camsell Hospital, which treated Indigenous tuberculosis patients until its 1996 closure and has since been redeveloped into rental apartments and townhomes, preserving a 1967 heritage mural as a condition of the project. New construction listed today is infill — individual lots redeveloped one at a time.

Builders

How new construction happens here

Inglewood is one of Edmonton’s older neighbourhoods, with most of the area annexed into the city in 1904, so there is no master developer or builder roster the way there is for a new suburb. Its current new-construction listings are individual infill teardown-rebuilds on existing lots.

A note on how we source this. The MLS® feed behind this site carries the listing brokerage, not the builder, and because these are one-off infill projects on individually-owned lots rather than a single developer’s phased release, there is no community-marketing site with a builder roster to point to.

Schools

Schools and catchments

Catchments in developing neighbourhoods change as schools are built and boundaries are redrawn, and we would rather send you to the authoritative source than publish a list that quietly goes stale. Both Edmonton school boards maintain official address-level finders:

Enter the exact address of any home you are considering — in a newer neighbourhood, two homes a few blocks apart can fall into different catchments.

Pricing

How Inglewood prices against Edmonton

The median new-construction list price in Inglewood is $733,450, about 34% above the Edmonton-wide new-construction median of $548,800.

Price per square foot runs the other way, though: $375 in Inglewood against $308 across Edmonton — so despite the headline gap, homes here are not simply pricier per foot. Within Inglewood itself, price per square foot ranges from $305 to $1,786, a spread wide enough that lot position, finish level and builder all clearly move the number.

What's the Charles Camsell Hospital redevelopment in Inglewood?

The former Charles Camsell Hospital, which treated Indigenous tuberculosis patients from northern Alberta and the NWT until its 1996 closure, has been redeveloped into “Inglewood Lofts” — 193 rental apartments plus 20 townhomes. As a condition of the redevelopment, a 1967 mosaic mural by Austrian-Canadian artist Alexander von Svoboda was preserved and is now displayed in a common area named for Indigenous artist Jane Ash Poitras, whose mother was a patient at the hospital. The property sold to Strategic Group for $60.5 million in March 2026 after that heritage requirement was fulfilled.

Can I find a home with a legal basement suite in Inglewood?

Sometimes. 3 of the 4 active listings in Inglewood have a finished basement suite. A further 1 listings include a side entrance — the standard structural precursor — for buyers planning to finish a suite themselves. Confirm suite legality with the City before relying on it.

Do I pay anything to have MoveNew represent me?

No. Builder sales representatives work for the builder. MoveNew represents you instead, at zero cost — the commission for a buyer's agent is already built into the builder's budget whether or not you bring one.

What if I have a home to sell?

That is common, and it is worth planning early. The timing question is how a builder's possession date lines up with the sale of your current home — completion dates can move, and carrying two homes or bridging the gap has a real cost. Start with a free home evaluation so you know what your current home is worth, then read our guide to selling before buying new construction.
